VOLKSWAGEN HAS ANNOUNCED availability of the updated-for-2010 Volkswagen Passat range, bringing with it a revised engine line-up, additional features and a new entry price.
Starting the 2010 Passat range off is the 1.8 litre 118TSI engine, developing 118kW and 250Nm of torque. The 1.8 litre - also featured in the 2010 Volkswagen Golf 118TSI - replaces the discontinued 2.0 litre 147TSI.
While the 2.0 litre 103TDI diesel has also been cut from the Passat line-up, the popular 2.0 litre 125TDI gets an upgrade to the sporty Highline specification.
Features standard with the 125TDI Highline include chrome-plated inserts in the radio grille, front fog lights and 17x7.5-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the 125TDI Highline gets Napa leather, sports luxury front seats and brushed aluminium decorative trim.
Moving up, the Passat V6 FSI Highline gets 18x8-inch alloy wheels and sport suspension. Inside, 12-way electric front seats with three-position memory for the driver's seat figures among the V6 FSI Highline's standard features, along with automatic kerb function for the passenger's side mirror and a Media Device Interface.
The range-topping Passat R36 gets a dark tinted rear window and rear side windows and the Media Device Interface.
Safety features available across the 2010 Passat range include Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist for braking distance reduction. Other safety systems include Park Assist, Adaptive Chassis Control and Lane Assist.
The latest version of Volkswagen's radio navigation systems, the RNS510, is also available in the Passat range.
