Just six months after launching the 2010 Toyota Corolla Hatch update, Toyota Australia has today announced availability of the updated 2010 Toyota Corolla sedan. Also available with the new model is a new 2.0 litre petrol engine.

Style-wise, the updated Corolla gets new bumpers front and rear, along with a new radiator grille, headlights, fog lamps and rear combination lights. There are also new reflectors and updated exterior mirrors with integraded indicator lights.

Up front, the lower grille has been widened, while the foglight aperture has been made taller. At the rear, Toyota has worked to enhance the appearance of width, with larger and sharper bumper corners, a wider rear garnish, thinner tail-lamps and square reflectors.

The range-topping Ultima is the first Corolla in Australia to feature Toyota's 3ZR-FE 2.0 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 102kW at 5600rpm and 189Nm of torque at 4400rpm. The new engine is paired to an electronically-controlled CVT automatic transmission.

The Ultima gets a new reversing camera, its image displayed on a 3.3 inch LCD screen in the interior mirror. It is also equipped with xenon headlights and a rear spoiler.

While the Ultima gets new 'blade-design' alloy wheels, the next-down Conquest gains new five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the new Corolla features MP3 and WMA audio compatibility, along with iPod-enabled USB, Bluetooth and aux-input connectivity.

The Ascent features a sincle CD player, while the Conquest and Ultimate models get a six-disc system with a 4.3-inch screen.

There is also a new seat fabric with the Ascent and Conquest grades, while the Conquest and Ultima models get chrome plating on the air-register handles, new combination meters, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Ascent models are available with two options packages: an enhanced safety pack with front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, driver's knee airbag, and a cruise pack, featuring cruise control, premium steering wheel with audio controls and premium gear-shift and park brake levers.

Corolla Conquest and Ultima sedans are fitted with seven airbags as standard equipment, and all Corolla sedans are equipped with vehicle stability control and traction control.
