Continuing its run of limited edition models, Toyota Australia has this week announced the 2010 Toyota Corolla Ascent 'Sport' Special Edition, limited to 1500 hatchback units.
The release of the special edition variant follows the launch late last year of the updated-for-2010 Toyota Corolla hatch range.
Bringing $1600 worth of styling and equipment upgrades unique to this special edition, the Corolla Ascent Sport costs just $510 more than the regular Ascent variant.
Features include 16-inch alloy 'blade' wheels, shod with 205/55R16 tyres, replacing the regular 15-inch steel wheels. Fog lamps are featured in the front bumper, along with a small lip spoiler. Updates to the rear end include a large top-mounted spoiler and a unique 'Ascent Sport' badge.
Exterior colour options have expanded to eight choices with the addition of Tidal Blue, previously exclusive to the Levin SX and ZR.
Inside, the Ascent Sport gets Toyota's new 'Gen Y' audio system, including a monochromatic LCD display, amber backlighting, joystick controller, single CD player, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, and USB and 3.5mm aux connectivity.
Cruise control, sports steering wheel and gear shift and a 12v accessory power socket round out the interior features.
An optional safety pack can be added for a futher $500, which adds two side curtain-shield airbags and a driver's knee airbag to the existing driver and front-passenger airbags and front-seat airbags.
Pricing and Availability
The Corolla Ascent Sport is available with both manual and automatic transmissions, priced from $22,500 (Manufacturer's List Price, does not include dealer delivery or on-road costs).
