TOYOTA HAS REVEALED a styling update for the 2010 Auris, sold locally as the iconic Toyota Corolla.

Toyota Australia's Roxane Persehais, although tight-lipped on exactly what the update would entail, confirmed to TMR that a facelifted Corolla will launch locally in December.

With styling revisions borrowing cues from the recent Auris HSD hybrid concept, the 2010 Auris wears a sportier countenance than the outgoing model.

Sharper headlights lifted directly from the HSD flank a wider grille opening, above a more prominent lower grille and larger fog lights.

Updates to the rear are less obvious: a new bumper - replete with faux diffuser insert flanked by large reflectors - joins a wider number plate space and grab plate.

The tail-lights maintain the outgoing model's shape, with slight cosmetic updates to the lens and internal shaping.

The Japan-market model gets an update to the 1.8 litre engine's dual-VVTi system and is mated to a CVT transmission with paddle shifts. It's too early to say whether this feature will appear with the Australian-delivered 2010 Corolla.
