2010 Subaru Liberty And Outback Score 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating

SUBARU'S LATEST Liberty and Outback  family cars have passed ANCAP's rigorous crash testing program with flying colours, each scoring a full 5-Star safety rating.

Both Liberty and Outback received 34.8 points out of a possible 37 for occupant protection, and also scored three out of four stars in pedestrian impact testing.

Both cars scored highly thanks to the generous amount of safety equipment offered (front, side and curtain airbags are standard) as well as the car's strong performance in a side pole impact test, the latter of which ultimately delivered the five-star rating.

The Subaru also fared well in the standard side impact test, achieving a full 16 points. Both Subarus scored 13.8 out of 16 points in the offset front impact test, with leg injury protection for the driver being assessed as "marginal".

"Safety is an absolute priority at Subaru," Nick Senior, Managing Director of Subaru Australia, said.

"All our Australian specification cars are crash tested locally. We don’t rely on overseas results, which may not necessarily reflect local spec and may not even have been conducted using right hand drive cars.

"Subaru has consistent safety features across its entire range, making it an easy choice for safety-conscious customers. Our own research indicates safety as one of the top three considerations for our customers.
