FOR A LIMITED TIME, the 2010 Subaru Impreza R will be available with a leather trim.

Available in sedan and hatch form with both the five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions, only 1000 of the limited edition Impreza R cars will be offered.

The standard Impreza R is now $1000 more affordable, with a Recommended Driveaway Price (RDP) of $23,990. Priced at $24,490 RDP, the leather-trimmed Impreza R attracts a premium of $500 over the regular model.

The new Impreza R price follows a similar price drop for the model earlier this year, from $26,400 to $24,990.

All Impreza have a 5-Star ANCAP crash safety rating, with dual front, side and curtain airbags, and Vehicle Dynamics Control electronic stability system.

Subaru Australia Managing Director Nick Senior said the new pricing is one of two ways the Japanese carmaker is improving value for its customers.

“We are clearly applying the Federal Government’s duty reduction in two ways: via increased equipment and specification levels on our newest models, including Liberty and Outback, and through tactical driveaway pricing programs, such as with Impreza R models," Mr Senior said.

“In the case of new generation Liberty and Outback, we also managed to maintain or reduce recommended prices of most variants. This is despite the incredible currency pressures of the past 12-18 months.”
