2010 Skoda Octavia 90TSI Launched In Australia

SKODA OCTAVIA 90TSI

Skoda has announced the Australian release of the 2010 Skoda Octavia 90TSI Liftback and Wagon. Starting at $24,990 (plus on-roads), these are the new entry-level models in the Octavia range.

Power for the 90TSI comes from the Volkswagen group's 1.4 litre turbo-charged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 90kW and 200Nm of torque. The new engine, which also features in the 2010 Volkswagen Golf 90TSI, replaces the outgoing 1.6 litre MPI engine.

Paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, the 90TSI lists fuel consumption figures of 6.4 l/100km, while the optional seven-speed DSG automatic transmission returns an even better 6.2 l/100km figure.

Standard features for the 90TSI include height-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, along with an audio system that features CD, MP3 and auxiliary inputs, and an eight-speaker setup.

Other features include semi-automatic air-conditioning, remote central door locking, power windows front and rear, 15-inch 'Pyxis' alloy wheels, multi-function leather steering wheel with radio control, cruise control and a multi-function trip computer.

Safety features for the Octavia 90TSI include six airbags and the Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP) with integrated ABS, EBD, and ASR.

Skoda says its ESP system is designed to constantly compare the actual movement of the vehicle with pre-determined values, applying the brakes to individual wheels and automatically adjust the engine’s power output when skidding is detected.
