PORSCHE AUSTRALIA has today announced the upcoming local launch of the V6-powered Panamera and Panamera 4, due in showrooms from July.

Both models, which will form the entry-level offerings in the Panamera range, are powered by a brand-new direct-injected 3.6 litre V6 petrol engine. Output is listed as 220kW, with a respectable 400Nm of torque.

While a six-speed manual transmission is available, all Panamera models are fitted with Porsche's PDK double-clutch transmission as standard, along with the efficiency-boosting Start & Stop system.

“This V6 has been designed by Porsche specifically for the Panamera,” Porsche Cars Australia Managing Director Michael Winkler said. “It has the power and refinement our customers expect, yet at the same time delivers excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions.”

Internationally, Porsche says the rear-wheel-drive Panamera V6 uses just 9.3 l/100km on the combined cycle, while the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 V6 is only a fraction off, with 9.6 l/100km.

Those particularly conscious of the Panamera's carbon footprint can order the optional 19-inch alloy wheels with optimised low-rolling-resistance tyres. With the special tyres, CO2 emissions drop to 213g/km for the Panamera V6 and 220g/km for the Panamera 4 V6.
