PEUGEOT HAS TODAY announced the arrival of the updated-for-2010 Peugeot 207, featuring a range of styling and specification upgrades across the 207 line-up.

The 207 range includes the XR, XT and GTi models, along with the 207 CC - available with a naturally aspirated 1.6 litre 88kW engine or a turbocharged 110kW version.

Joining the range is the new Touring Outdoor, available with 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines.

On the styling front, the 207 wears revised front and rear bumpers, relocated foglights, chrome detailing, LED taillights and a range of new wheel sizes and styles.

Updates to the 207's specifications include a full complement of six airbags as standard with the entry-level XR model.

All XT models now feature a glass roof, along with standard dual-zone climate control and an electrochrome rear-view mirror.

Rear privacy glass is now standard on XT and GTi models, and cruise control is standard fitment with all 1.6 litre models.

New wheels, named after Australian cities for the local market, include:

  • New eight-spoke 15-inch “Brisbane” wheel cover is standard on XR and XT models
  • New 16-inch “Canberra” alloy wheel with five large spokes is optional on the XT.
  • New 17-inch “Melbourne” two-tone alloy wheel with eight diamanté spokes is the standard wheel for the GTi.

In entry-level XR guise, the 207 hatch is available with either a 1.4 litre or 1.6 litre petrol four-cylinder engine.

The 1.4 litre engine, paired to a five-speed manual transmission, produces 65kW and 133Nm of torque.

The larger 1.6 litre engine develops 88kW and 160Nm of torque, available with a four-speed automatic transmission only.

The 1.6 litre engine is also offered with the XT and CC models, available with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

Along with the petrol model, the XT is available with a 1.6 litre HDi FAP turbodiesel engine developing 80kW and 240Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

The 207 CC Turbo is powered by a turbo version of the 1.6 litre petrol engine, developing 110kW and 240Nm of torque.

The 207 GTi draws power from a more powerful version of the same turbo engine, developing 128kW and 240Nm of torque.

Inside, the 207 GTi features sports bucket seats and integrated head restraints, trimmed with black Alcantara, leather and mesh cloth.

All 207 models now feature a redesigned instrument panel, including new heating and air conditioning controls and dials.

Additional extras include remote closing of the windows on XT, GTi, CC models and Touring Outdoor. If a sun roof is fitted, it closes at the same time.

Bluetooth and USB connectivity is standard with the GTi, and optional with the XT, CC models and the Touring Outdoor.

The updated 207 begins at $22,490 for the XR 1.4 litre manual, available now.
