MINI HAS TODAY announced the special Australia-only MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Edition, available for a limited time at a $2500 premium over the 'regular' MINI John Cooper Works.
Based on the MINI CHALLENGE race car, the JCW Challenge Edition is available with Hardtop, Clubman and Cabrio models.
The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge Edition is powered by the same turbo-charged 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine as the regular MINI JCW, developing 155kW and 260Nm of torque. A further 20Nm of torque is available thanks to the temporary Overboost function.
As with the MINI JCW, the JCW Challenge Edition shoots to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds.
If not in the form of powerplant upgrades, what sets the JCW Challenge Edition apart from the regular JCW model? According to MINI, over $7000 worth of extra styling and handling tweaks.
Exclusive to the Australian market, the John Cooper Works Challenge Edition features a JCW-branded aerodynamics package with front, rear and side aprons, along with a JCW carbon-fibre spoiler and a aluminium cross brace.
Inside there's an Alcantara and carbon steering wheel, JCW carbon-fibre gearshift knob with Alcantara shroud, carbon-fibre handbrake lever and unique Challenge Edition badging.
