Mercedes-Benz has let slip a handful of extra images showing the interior of its upcoming autobahn-stormer the SLS AMG, giving us a closer look at the cockpit of Benz's V8-powered Ferrari-fighter.

We've seen much of the SLS's interior before, but this selection of pics affords us an even better 'driver's eye view' of the AMG built supercar. We can see the SLS's signature gullwing doors and the wide aperture they give the driver and passenger; we can see how the enormous vented bonnet stretches out in front of the windscreen and we can see the unique gear selector and the racecar-like array of buttons that run along the centre console.

Despite AMG making it known that the SLS will be a significantly more focussed offering than the luxury-packed McLaren-Mercedes SLR that preceeds it, the SLS certainly isn't wanting for mod-cons.

Hand-stitched leather covers every surface that isn't clad in metallic trim,  both seats are electrically adjustable, dual-zone climate control is standard along with adaptive cruise control and parking sensors keep the megadollar coupe's paint intact.

A Bang & Olufsen stereo, DVD stacker, carbon-fibre trim and an even more 'exclusive' leather package are optional extras.

With its high-and-upright dash and retro airconditioner vents, the SLS's cabin definitely channels the spirit of Mercedes coupes of yore. The 300SL gullwing in particular. The combination of new-school tech in a nostalgia-flavoured wrapper results in a very unique look for the SLS's interior and if that's what the cockpit looks like, we can't wait to see the entire thing.

Bring it on.
