REVEALED AT THE Frankfurt Motor Show last month, the updated 2010 Lexus GS range will be available in Australia from November.

Safety is the headliner for the big Lexus, with the 2010 GS getting active front headrests and an Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System with pre-collision brake technology as standard across the range.

Designed to prepare the vehicle for an imminent collision, the Advanced Pre-Collision Safety System will also apply the brakes if the computer detects that the driver is not going to react in time.

Audio and navigation has been upgraded across the GS range, featuring new software to improve usability of the vehicle touch screen control.

USB and auxiliary connectivity is now standard, making the GS' audio system compatible with portable music players and storage devices. Bluetooth connectivity is also a standard feature for 2010.

Three new exterior colours have been added to the palette: the silver-gold Metallic Silk, green-gold Deep Peridot and deep-blue Lapis Lazuli.

The 2010 Lexus GS is available as the GS 300, powered by a 3.0 litre V6, and as the GS 460, powered by a 4.6 litre V8.

Along with the new standard features for the 2010 GS, the 2010 GS 450h sets itself apart with a unique front grille featuring horizontal bars wider in the centre and narrowing towards the outer ends.

'Hybrid' blue rear lamps continue the GS 450h's unique features, and twin-five-spoke aluminium wheels are available as an option.

Inside, a 'hybrid' blue back-lit engine stop/start button is featured.

The 2010 Lexus GS 450h is powered by a 3.5 litre V6 petrol-electric hybrid engine, with a combined output of 254kW.

Lexus has confirmed to TMR that the 2010 GS range will be available from November, but that pricing will not be revealed until closer to the date.
