THE 2010 HYUNDAI IX35, revealed earlier this week after months of teaser images, has made its first television commercial appearance in Korea, where it is now available as the Tucson iX.
The commercial underlines Hyundai's efforts to position its model range a little more upmarket and a little more funky - the versatile ix35 hitting TV screens with the tag line 'Sexy Utility Vehicle'.
A new 135kW 2.0 litre version of Hyundai?s R-Engine turbo-diesel is expected to power the ix35, with a petrol engine also tipped to be offered.
A six-speed twin-clutch gearbox was one of the key talking points of the ix-onic concept, but whether the production model makes use of such sophisticated technology remains to be seen.
The ix35, designed and engineered in Europe, will be officially unveiled for the Western market at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15.
