2010 Dodge Caliber Gets All-New Interior, Now Available In Australia

Revealed late last year, Dodge's updated Caliber is now available in Australia, bringing an interior update for the 2010-11 model year.

The base 1.8 litre petrol four is replaced by a 2.0 litre 'World Engine', which develops 115kW and 190Nm of torque thanks to dual variable-valve timing (VVT) and an intake manifold design that now features flow control valves.

The 2.0 litre engine is paired with the Chrysler Group's CVT automatic transmission, leading to a combined-cycle fuel consumption figure of 8.0 l/100km - a six to eight percent improvement over a 'traditional' automatic transmission, according to Chrysler.

For 2010, the petrol engine is the only powertrain available for the Caliber, with Chrysler Australia dropping the diesel engine and manual transmission from the line-up, leaving only the SXT model in the range-of-one.

Exterior styling changes to the updated Caliber are virtually non-existent, but more chrome in the front grille and the addition of 18-inch polished alloy wheels add a little extra spice to the Caliber's appearance.

Inside, it's a different story. The dash, door cards and interior fittings have been completely revised for 2010, and a new design aesthetic and the use of more premium materials boosts interior quality.

Standard features include an Electronic Vehicle Information Centre, UConnect Media Centre with six-CD/DVD changer and aux connectivity.

There is also a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, power windows, power locks and heated exterior mirrors, cruise control, Chill Zone beverage cooler, stain-repel fabric, a fold-flat front passenger seat and Sentry Key engine immobiliser and alarm.

Safety features include multi-stage driver, front passenger and supplemental side-curtain air bags, active driver and front passenger head restraints, anti-lock brakes and ESC with brake assist.

More storage space is built into the 2010 Caliber's cabin, and a refrigerated storage bin, iPod/auxillary input and voice-controlled sat-nav system still feature. Extra chrome and satin silver trim also dress up the interior.

The 2010 Dodge Caliber SXT is priced from $29,990 (Manufacturer's List Price), with optional equipment include the Technology Group entertainment and communications system ($2750), Power Sunroof ($2000) and Premium Paint ($450).
