IT SEEMS THE weekly reminder heralding the imminent appearance of a new model is becoming something of a trend. Lately it's been all about the 2010 Audi A1.

Today, Audi has served up another video, and this time it's the A1's colour designer talking about wasabi.

Of more interest, however, is the dimly-lit silhouetted profile of the A1, shown for just a few moments at the very end of the video. As with the previous video, the image reveals a slick sporty shape, clearly inspired by the A1 Sportback Concept.

Back to the riveting subject of trim colours, though, and  Audi colour designer Jana Bonkova walks us through the virtues of 'wasabi green', used as a highlight throughout just one of the A1's myriad interior trim choices.

"We use wasabi paste for meals to improve the flavour – but only in small amounts," Bonkova said.

"It's the same with the A1. Wasabi Green is used selectively to create accents, such as in details like seams. We want to use this colour to appeal to people who simply want something new and fresh."
