The folks over at Car Magazine have managed to get some snaps and info of the Porsche 911 Turbo update due in 2009. It only seems like yesterday that the new 997 based Turbo was released but Porsche have been busy working away in the background on an even better one.

Second time around will see more power and torque from an engine that is more efficient and produces less CO2. The big news in the update department though is the introduction of Porsche’s first twin-clutch gearbox.

Among the expected changes to the Turbo’s 3.6-litre turbocharged flat-six will be a move to direct injection which is where the improvements in efficiency and emissions will be found. Combined with refinements to the turbos VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) system and the fitment of the GT2’s expansion intake manifold the revised turbo is tipped to produce almost 370kW/500hp.

Styling changes are as usual evolutionary in true Porsche tradition. They appear to include detail changes to the rear tail lights, exhaust outlets and a smoother rear bumper.

If the idea of a twin-clutch 911 Turbo with more power and greener credentials gets you all hot and bothered then you will need to cool your heels until ‘sometime’ during 2009. Expect a 2009 Geneva Motor Show debut.
