Australians are set to get their first look at the new 2009 Subaru Forester at next months Melbourne International Motor Show. Subaru's third generation constant All-Wheel Drive Forester will be unveiled at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, revealing a wider, taller vehicle with greater cabin space.

Subaru were pioneers of the Compact Sports Utility Vehicle with the first Forester launched back in 1997 and are looking to continue the success that they have enjoyed. Subaru have been tight-lipped on the specifications of their new Forester but we do know that it rides on a slightly longer wheelbase than the current model and that VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) will now be standard across the Forester range.

Engine options will include Subaru’s revised 2.5-litre four-cylinder boxer engine with a turbo version available in the GT variant.

A multiple award-winner and best seller for Subaru in Australia, Forester sales have passed 100,000 and it consistently sells more than 1000 a month, with sales of the new model due to begin in mid-March.

Sales of the new Forester will start in mid-March. For those who want to see the new Forester up close, the Melbourne International Motor Show opens at 5pm on Friday 29th February.
