We most recently saw the Octavia at the 2009 Melbourne Motor Show, and now Skoda has unveiled the latest iterations of its Octavia RS lift-back and station wagon.

Based on the Golf GTI, the Skoda Octavia RS looks thoroughly refreshed thanks to a redesigned front featuring a clearly visible RS logo. And, for the first time, the RS can now be optioned with Xenon headlights.

Out back it's a familiar affair, but with a new bumper and taillights modernising the look. New 18-inch alloy wheels and an additional colour in the palette (Anthracite) complete the picture.

The interior has come in for a revision; the RS comes well-featured and, with the new model, with an improved Climatronic air conditioning system.

Beneath it all, the Octavia RS now sits 127mm above the tarmac and has had 20kg shaved from the petrol-powered RS and 15kg from the diesel.

Speaking of engines, the range-topper is available with either a 2.0 litre TSI four cylinder with 150kW (200hp) or a 2.0 litre TDI diesel with 126kW (170hp).

All cars will receive Volkswagen's six-speed twin-clutch DSG, with economy figures coming in at 7.5 l/100km for the petrol engine and 5.7 l/100km for the diesel.

Information on pricing and availability is still coming, so until then be sure to check out the Octavia RS in the gallery below.
