Nissan has unveiled its all-new 2009 Murano crossover SUV at the L.A. Auto Show, currently on until the 25th November. Initially launched in 2003 as a 2004 model, the Murano "city SUV" has received an extensive freshen-up.

The 2009 Murano is powered by a revised version of the familiar 3.5-litre DOHC V6 engine which in second generation tune provides a handy 198kW/265hp, more than enough to see the "sporty SUV" theme carried through to the new model. Drive is handled by the latest advanced Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with a FWD or an AWD set-up.

In addition to the mechanical upgrades, the 2009 Murano features a new platform and body structure as well as new exterior and interior features. The exterior is an evolution of the first-generation Murano and includes a chrome grille, high waistline, bulging wheel-arches, rear LED tail-lights and standard 18-inch alloys with 20-inch alloys available as an option.

On the inside, the 2009 Murano benefits from a redesigned front fascia and centre console that includes a push button ignition while double stitched leather trim with aluminium trim pieces help to lift the interior feel. Interior ‘toys’ include an 11-speaker audio system, rear-view camera, i-Pod connectivity and a touch screen navigation system that features a 9.3GB hard-drive.

The 2009 Murano is scheduled to rollout throughout the U.S. in early January 2008 and we would expect Australian deliveries to get underway later in the same year.
