The Porsche stand - sandwiched between opposites, Bentley and Suzuki - has a smorgasbord of German exotica on display. The headline-hitter is the new Cayenne Diesel (yes, an oil-burning Porsche) shoving diesel power into the current Cayenne line-up.

It is only showing its face for the first three days of the show, so if you want to see it in the flesh (err... metal) you better get to the Show from 5:00pm today, Saturday or Sunday only.

The Cayenne Diesel comes with a 2.0 litre V6 pumping out modest power of 176 kW (240hp) but packing a colossal amount of torque at 550Nm. But if you want the ultimate oil-burning off-roader in your garage, then you’ll have to wait until April this year. Negotiating will start from $101,990.

Back to the more traditional sportscar car line-up from Porsche is the Australian debut of the 2009 Cayman and Boxster. Featuring all-new engines, the capacity has swelled from 2.7 litres found in the old model, now up to 2.9 litres. As a result, power has been increased to sit at 188kW in the entry-level Boxster and 195kW in the Cayman, that’s an increase of 8kW and 15 kW respectively over the old models.

But isn’t this a supercar segment? Well, perched at the front right corner of the stand is a gleaming white ubër Porsche on display, the 911 GT2. In white with black GT2 side decals, this grunt-laden Porsche monster stands head-high in an 'automotive heaven' Porsche stand.

Using the same engine as the 991 Turbo, but with a revised air-intake system and using higher boost pressures, the GT2 produces 390kW (530 bhp) of gut-wrenching power. This example, at $447,500, reminds that this really is a Porsche at supercar levels of performance and pricing (you could almost buy four Boxsters for the same price).

Also on display on the Porsche stand at the show are:

Carrera S 284 kW (385 hp)

Cayenne Turbo S 404 kW (550 hp)

911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet 283 kW (385 hp)

Pre-owed 911 Carrera Cabriolet 221 kW (300 hp) - a great kept example of the previous generation 911.

Ex-rally car Cayenne S TransSyberia 298 kW (405 hp) - not the customer offered Cayenne TransSyberia but an actual ex-rally car complete with stripped out no-nonsense rally spec interior.
