TMR has only recently handed the keys to the second generation Honda Accord Euro back to Honda, and can confirm that it is a quality drive. The latest round of EuroNCAP testing suggests it has also taken safety to a new level. Launched in June of this year, the new Accord Euro has just received the first EuroNCAP three-star pedestrian test rating for the Large Family class.

Better still, the Euro also managed to achieve the best overall performance for combined safety in this class.  Five-star adult protection, four-star child protection and three-star pedestrian protection make the Accord Euro an attractive proposition for safety-conscious buyers.

Ken Keir, Senior Vice President of Honda in Europe, was understandably pleased with the results:

"We are delighted with the EuroNCAP result, which confirms the new Euro as the leader for combined adult, child and pedestrian safety in the large family car class. Add to this the advanced active safety features of the Euro and customers can experience the most effective safety technologies put into practice with our goal of providing safety for everyone.”

EuroNCAP has also, for the first time, published whiplash ratings for the front seats and the Euro achieves a score of 2.26 out of 4.

The Accord Euro was built with safety in mind, beginning with the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure. The ACE body is designed to channel impact forces away from the passenger compartment through a combination of design and material choices.

In addition, the Euro also benefits from Vehicle Stability Assist, standard on all models, which individually brakes left and right wheels while modulating engine torque to maintain control.

Motion Adaptive EPS is another Honda initiative reducing risk. The system intuitively provides the driver with subtle steering inputs in emergency situations through the car's electric power steering. This increases the chances of successful recovery and crash avoidance.

The Honda Accord Euro also comes standard with many safety features often listed as options on other vehicles. Starting at $32,990, the Accord Euro represents excellent value for money for both safety and dynamics.
