THE HOLDEN CRUZE has come in for its first update since its market debut last month.

Holden's Kate Lonsdale told TMR that the update - which focuses on a running change in the automatic transmission - will ensure smoother shifts when the engine is cold or under hard acceleration.

"We're always looking to improve our vehicles, and as with any model, there's an ongoing evaluation of the car. This update was something that was identified during that process," Ms Lonsdale said.

TMR drove the all-new Holden Cruze prior to its showroom debut. Our view of Holden's new global medium car is that its an impressive and sharply priced package and a worthy addition to the Holden line-up.

Lonsdale said that the update is being rolled out on all Cruzes fitted with the automatic transmission, while cars already on the road will get the update on their first service.

"Existing owners will, when they bring their cars into a Holden dealership for service, have the update applied then as part of the service," Ms Lonsdale told TMR.

"We've found that it's in fact quite a subjective issue; some drivers will likely not even notice the change."

Although sales figures for June are not yet available, Ms Lonsdale said reaction to the Cruze has been pleasing.

"We're really pleased, the Cruze has been received very well. Our dealers are very happy with it and there's a lot of buyer interest in the car," she said.
