Hyundai has released details of its 2009 Grandeur large sedan range, and the big news is that it now includes a diesel option, with the introduction of the 2.2 litre CRDi turbo diesel engine which achieves 7.9 L/100km fuel economy*. It also comes with a range of enhancements and refinements over the older model.

The 2009 Grandeur offers buyers luxury car comfort and a choice of economical engines. The 3.8 litre V6 petrol (returning 10.8 L/100km) and the thrifty new 2.2 CRDi turbo diesel.

Hyundai’s newest Ambassador, the Sydney F.C. and Qantas Socceroo John Aloisi is the first 2009 Grandeur CRDi turbo Diesel driver.

“It’s great to get into such a well-specified car,” commented Aloisi. “I’m really excited about Hyundai’s Green Diesel engine and the benefits it offers in fuel savings.”

The 2009 Grandeur model range has received an number of enhancements. Outside, there is a new radiator grille, chrome inserts in the front and rear bumpers, indicators in the door mirrors and new style 17” alloy wheels.

While changes to the interior include an upgraded 8 speaker (including subwoofer) ‘JBL’ audio system that incorporates USB audio input with iPod® compatibility, USB memory stick, blue interior illumination and a supply of latex-free vinyl gloves is included with the CRDi model variant.

The 2009 Grandeur also incorporates Hyundai’s Active Locking Operation (HALO) which prevents unwanted entry. HALO features a speed sensing central locking system which automatically locks all doors when the vehicle reaches 45 km/h. The doors automatically unlock upon key removal from the ignition. Front seat occupants can override the system to easily exit the car.

There is plenty of standard safety kit, including ESP Stability Control incorporating Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-skid Brake System (ABS) + Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), active head restraints for driver and front passenger, child seat anchor points with ISO Fix points and 8 airbags including dual front airbags, dual side (thorax) airbags and curtain airbags (for all outboard occupants).

In addition to the upgrades, the Grandeur's list of luxury equipment includes power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, IMS (Integrated Memory System for power driver’s seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors), electro chromatic interior mirror, rain-sensing wipers, auto dusk-sensing headlights, powered folding outside mirrors with 3 mode auto-dipping in reverse.

The 2009 Grandeur is available in a range of colours, that are matched to either a black or beige leather interior.  

Underlining Hyundai's faith in their product is Australia's first 5 year warranty with unlimited kilometres, in addition to a new comprehensive 12 months Hyundai Premium Roadside Assist program (that should ensure peace of mind for new owners).

A range of Genuine Hyundai Accessories is available for customers to ensure their 2009 Grandeur is tailored to their needs. The range includes Front Park Assist Sensors, Cargo Liner and Roof Racks (2 bar set). All Genuine Hyundai Accessories are covered by Hyundai’s Australian first 5 year accessory warranty with unlimited kilometers.

The Grandeur 3.8 V6 petrol five-speed auto retails for a recommended $39,990, while the 2.2 CRDi turbo diesel, with five-speed auto will cost you $2,000 more at $41,990. Optional metallic/mica paint is available for an additional $375.
