Among the cars already known to be debuting at the event, the Lexus Premium Compact Concept stands out as the only model the world has yet to have had a glimpse of, with only a single illustration revealed so far.

The hotly anticipated 2010 Volkswagen Golf R is expected to make its first appearance at the event, showing off what many speculate will be an all-wheel-drive version of the GTI with a power figure around the 208kW mark.

Aston Martin's 2010 Rapide four-door coupe will get its first 'in the flesh' reveal at the show, powered by the same 350kW 6.0 litre V12 engine found in the DB9.

Revealed through images and official details back in July, the 2010 Audi A5 Sportback will also get its first live appearance at Frankfurt. offering the same four-door convenience of its sedan siblings in the Audi line-up with the coupe styling the A5 is known for.

The 2010 Bentley Mulsanne, revealed for the first time at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this past weekend, is scheduled to appear at Frankfurt. With minimal details revealed at Monterey, the Mulsanne's technical details will be uncovered at Frankfurt.

Succeeding the venerable F430, Ferrari's all-new 2010 F458 Italia supercar will appear in Frankfurt next month as well, showcasing a 4.5 litre V8 developing 425kW and 540Nm of torque.

Mazda's special MX-5 Superlight, of which only the rear end and side has been revealed so far, will make its highly-awaited first appearance at the event. Mazda has been quick to note that the car is merely a concept, built as something of an anniversary gift to celebrate the MX-5's 20th birthday.

Peugeot will show off its Audi TT alternative, the 2010 Peugeot RCZ, at the show, after revealing new images and technical details of the production model this week.

Perhaps the highlight of the show, Mercedes-Benz will finally unveil the 2011 SLS AMG. Due to be built in extremely limited numbers, the SLS AMG will be powered by a 6.2 litre V8, developing 420kW and 649Nm of torque, with a 0-100km/h time of just 3.8 seconds.
