2009 Citroen C5 Tourer Awarded Diesel Wagon Of The Year

The 2009 Citroen C5 Tourer has been gonged by UK magazine What Diesel as “Best Estate Car” in the 2009 What Diesel Car of the Year awards. According to WD, the C5 won for its "effortless blend of performance, style, comfort and technology" (not that we've never heard that combination of words before).

We would love to be able to confirm the C5's sublime charms, but here, curiously, importer Ateco chooses not to run a sensible press fleet.

The fact that the C5 is barely bothering the VFACTS scorer in monthly sales ("Did we sell one this month Lenny, or was that last month...?"), might be explained in this policy.

The C5 Tourer took the award ahead of 30 competitors in the ‘Best Estate Car’ category. While they're as rare as fresh Dodo-poop on the roads, the C5 in both wagon and sedan is a superbly stylish and highly-featured contender. On looks alone it should be doing a heck of a lot better.

The Citroen C5 Tourer offers two turbo diesel options here, a 2.0 litre 100 kW four-cylinder and a 2.7 litre twin turbo diesel with 150 kW - both matched to a six speed automatic gearbox.

How much? You will have to shake the moths out of the wallet and scrape together AU$55,990 RRP for the 2.0 litre while $69,490 RRP will bag you the grunty V6.
