2008 Nissan GT-R may make it to Oz
Nissan Australia general manager of marketing Ross Booth has confirmed to CARSguide.com.au that Nissan Oz would very much like to get their hot little hands on the next generation GT-R.

“I still have my hands up for the GT-R,” Mr Booth says.
The new GT-R will be launched at the Tokyo Motor Show in October of this year and production versions are expected to be available for customers in the second half of 2008.
Although it appears that Mr Booth has his hands up for the GT-R a formal submission (business case) has not yet been undertaken.
“Hopefully, in the next few months we will get to know and put together a case where we can get the vehicle,” said Mr Booth
One of the big issues will be pricing as Mr Booth has admitted that trying to sell a $200k Nissan may be difficult. Our best guess is that the basic GT-R would carry a price similar to the Porsche Cayman in Australia ($120K-ish) with the highest performance spec ‘Evo’ GT-R expected to give the $200k threshold a decent nudge.
Pricing may be adjusted for Australia…or maybe we will only receive the base spec…or maybe we won’t see the new GTR at all.
At the moment it is all speculation but it helps that Nissan Australia want to sell the GT-R in Australia and that they are willing to put the time into making a case for it.
The only hurdles remaining after the business case and availability would be the do-gooders and tree-huggers who would no doubt find the GT-R’s performance offensive and ‘Carbon footprint’ unacceptable. But we don't all want to drive a Prius...do we.
