If you like your SUV’s a little ‘warmed over’, then FPV’s new Territory F6X should appeal. FPV gave us a taste of the first Territory based addition to their range, when they unveiled a rather ordinary looking F6X Concept at last years Sydney Motor Show.

Now its time for the main event, with Ford announcing today that the F6X will go on sale from the 29th of February. Based on the already potent Ford Territory Turbo Ghia, FPV have cranked the volume up a notch and the F6X features a 270kW/362hp 550Nm version of Fords venerable 4.0-litre straight six in turbo-charged form. That puts it ahead of the standard Territory Turbo by 25kW and more importantly 70Nm.

The F6X uses ZF’s excellent six-speed automatic transmission and according to Ford will handle the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds, making the F6X one of the fastest SUV’s on the planet. With a sticker price of $75,990 - buying a better performing SUV from the likes of Porsche will cost a serious premium.

Despite its heft and prodigious performance, the F6X manages to use a reasonable 14.9 L/100 which would be more than comparable to the average V8 Australian performance sedan.

The F6X also benefits from the fitment of six piston Brembo calipers and 355mm ventilated discs. FPV have retuned the suspension, ABS and traction control to suit the performance orientated nature of the F6X and ESP is standard fitment.

The exterior sees the addition of unique 18-inch alloys and F6X badging, while the interior is embellished with two-tone leather trim, FPV logos on the seat head rests, as well as unique scuff plates, alloy pedals and an FPV build plate. Fords ICC (Interior Command Centre) controls climate control system and 6-disc in dash CD unit, while a reverse-safety camera and side curtain airbags are also standard fitment.

You’ll be able to see the production F6X in the flesh at this years Melbourne Motor Show, beginning the 29th of February at which time it will also be available for purchase from selected FPV dealers.
