Audi's new TTS sportscar has arrived in Australia in two guises - Roadster and Coupe.
The new TTS models raise the standard TT's performance to a new level with the help of a 200kW version of Audi's 2.0-litre TFSI engine - the same engine that has been awarded the international Engine of the Year class winner for four years running.
Audi point out that it's not just a matter of kilowatts either, with the 2.0-litre TFSI offering up some hefty pulling power, with maximum torque of 350Nm constantly on tap from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. When fitted with Audi's 6-speed dual clutch S tronic transmission, the 0 ? 100kmh sprint is dispatched in just 5.2 seconds. The six-speed manual is slightly slower at 5.4 seconds.
The TTS range also manage to combine performance with reasonable fuel efficiency with the six-speed manual Coupe averaging 8.0 litres/100km, while the slightly heavier and less aerodynamic Roadster averages 8.2 l/100 km. Tick the S tronic dual-clutch transmission option box and these figures drop down to 7.9 L/100 km and 8.0 L/100 km respectively.
Audi?s managing director, Joerg Hofmann, says the new TTS will cast a positive glow over the entire TT model range.
?As with all Audi S models, the new TTS will be the sporty top model in its family. It not only looks more aggressive and dynamic, its performance is second-to-none and continues the success story of the brand which focuses on reducing consumption whilst maintaining performance,? Mr Hofmann said.
The TTS also features Audi's quattro permanent all-wheel drive system and magnetic ride shock absorber system.
On the outside, the TTS features unique 18-inch alloy wheels as standard along with newly-designed bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights.
Inside, there are deep-set sports seats trimmed in Silk Nappa leather. The instruments feature a grey background, and Audi's signature flat-bottomed 3-spoke leather sports multifunction steering wheel also makes an appearance. For mobile entertainment, there is a Symphony sound system (MP3 compatible) complete with 6-stack CD player and an auxiliary input.
The 2-seater Roadster is equipped with an electro-hydraulic drive for the soft top, a power-operated wind deflector, plus a load-through facility for added practicality. The rear seats in the Coupe have a split-folding design, allowing luggage capacity to be increased from 290 to 700 litres.
The Audi TT model range:
TTS Coupe 6-speed manual - $92,900
TTS Coupe S tronic - $96,500
TTS Roadster 6-speed manual - $97,100
