Audi’s all new 2009 A4 is due to debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show but as is so often the case these days an official image has become unofficially available…

Audi are expected to officially release images and details of the new A4 overnight but in the meantime here is what we know.

Engines are expected to include a 1.8-litre TFSI four-cylinder petrol as well as a 3.2-litre FSI V6 petrol. Diesel engine options will include 2.0TDI, a 2.7-litre TDI and a 3.0-litre TDI although we probably shouldn’t expect this much choice in Australian delivered cars.

The styling of the new A4 appears to be more evolution than revolution with the most notable feature being a lower bonnet line. Looking very much like a four-door A5, the A4 (like the A5) will see the engine located behind the front axle line, allowing the lower bonnet line and sleeker nose, not to mention better handling and steering feel, when compared to the current model A4 (on the right).

Unfortunately, only the one image is available at this stage but expect more tomorrow and in the lead-up to Frankfurt.
