In preparation for the up-coming launch of the VE Series ute and wagon, Holden have re-introduced the SVZ badge to help clear remaining stocks of the venerable VZ ute and keep wagon sales ticking along.
The all new VE ute is due to hit showrooms by October this year with the wagon to follow in early 2008. The SVZ special editions have proven popular in the past and kept sales momentum up by offering a swag of extras to tempt the canny bargain hunter. While those in the know will sit back and wait for the better VE based product the punter with a keen eye for a value deal will find the SVZ Special Editions a tempting proposition.
When the last SVZ Special Edition was seen in showrooms in 2006 it came with a drive-away price and although that is not the case this time the starting price for the wagon at $32,490 (plus dealer delivery and government charges) is $2,000 below the 2006 edition. The wagon makes do with the standard 172kW/320Nm Alloytec engine and four-speed automatic.
The SVZ wagon enjoys a number of extras over and above the standard equipment found in the Executive wagon.

The SVZ ute is powered by the same engine currently doing time in Holden’s VE series Commodore. It’s a high output version of the 3.6-litre Alloytec V6, producing 190kW at 6500rpm with the automatic gearbox and 187kW at 6000rpm with the manual. Both versions produce 335Nm of torque at 3200rpm.

For those feeling adventurous the rather garish VE Commodore colour “Morpheous†metallic is also available, as seen in the pictures.
