Jaguar has confirmed that a prototype version of its ballistic 510hp supercharged XFR road-rocket is now the fastest Jaguar ever produced. A top speed of 360km/h (225mph) was recorded at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, to eclipse the XJ220 which until now has held the crown with a terminal velocity of 350km/h.

The 2009 Detroit Motor Show is pegged as the launch venue for Jaguar’s XFR and XKR performance saloons. The new and improved models are expected to continue Jaguar’s success with the beautiful XF range.
