A medium-segment competitor, Hyundai'si40 is available as either a family sedan or Tourer wagon. It competes against Toyota's segment-leading Camry, the Ford Mondeo, and Mazda6. It can comfortably accommodate five, has ample luggage space, and comes in three models: Active, Elite and Premium.
The i40 is powered by a choice of two engines, a 2.0-litre CVVT petrol and a modern, and very economical, 1.7-litre diesel turbo. The diesel comes standard with a seven-speed sports automatic DCT dual-clutch transmission; 2.0 litre petrol models with a six-speed auto.
Key features include driver and passenger airbags, head and side airbags, traction control, electronic brake distribution, Bluetooth as well as cruise control and seven-speaker stereo. The up-spec Premium models come with a very extensive features list.
Wheel sizes are 16-inch or 17-inch alloys, depending upon the model.
Hyundai has added new standard safety features to top-spec Premium variants of its i40 midsized sedan and i40 Tourer wagon.
