Nissan X-Trail ST 2WD
When Nissan launched the second-generation X-Trail compact soft-roader in 2007, it explained that the limited changes to exterior design were in response to buyer preference. It looked like a four-wheel-drive and that was what people wanted.
Well, this latest addition to the X-Trail range does not change the look but it has far less ability to head off-road. That is because drive is directed to the front wheels only.
This is an increasingly popular gambit among compact soft-roader makers. Indeed, Nissan has already had success using the same strategy to boost sales of the Dualis crossover.
