Tesla Model Y driver mocked online after car is bogged on NSW beach
This Tesla driver learned the hard way after getting their two-wheel-drive Model Y stuck on a beach in NSW.
A Tesla driver has been become the latest motorist to be mocked on social media after driving their vehicle onto soft sand – and quickly becoming stuck.
A photo of a Tesla Model Y electric SUV was posted on Facebook this week showing it bogged on a sandy access road near Newcastle – tagged as Stockton Beach, but corrected by some as the nearby Birubi Beach.
It appears the Model Y became stuck on the sand with its front end bottomed out against the soft surface – while its tyres have also dug their own holes.
A search of the vehicle's number plate reveals it is the base Model Y – which is rear-wheel drive, not all-wheel drive, making it even less likely the Tesla would have made it through the sand and onto its intended destination.
Comments under the Facebook post range from "Want a 4WD, go buy one" to "All the money in the world couldn’t buy this guy enough sense".
It is worth noting there have been plenty of other vehicles – both petrol and diesel-powered – who have found themselves stuck on beaches around Australia.
In September, a Subaru Outback was driven onto a Gold Coast beach and became bogged in the early hours of the morning – which the wagon’s driver claimed was due to a navigation error.
