With the development of more versatile platforms, carmakers are increasingly exploring new niches to create model footprints that were unthinkable barely a decade ago.
One such is the four-door coupe. Introduced (or rather ‘revived’) in the modern era by the big Mercedes CLS in 2004, it has spawned a swag of imitators.
In the years since, rivals BMW, Audi and even Volkswagen have introduced their own takes on the style with the 4/6 Series Gran Coupe, A5/A7 Sportback models, and even the VW Passat CC.
Interest in the look appears to be building, and a spanish artist by the name of Auto Projeções has imagined two more likely suspects: four-door coupe versions of BMW’s new 2 Series and Merc’s new C-Class.
