Renault has handed down a first look at its coming RS 01 race car today, with a new video offering a digital preview of the new track weapon.
Developed for next year’s ‘World Series by Renault’ championship, the RS 01 will be given a proper unveiling at next month’s Moscow Motor Show.
Little is known about the new racer, although Renault Sport has previously confirmed a carbon monocoque structure, with a total weight of around 1100kg.
Power will be provided by a 370kW+ engine sourced from Nismo - through the existing Renault Nissan alliance - mated to a seven-speed Sadev sequential gearbox.
It is also known that the RS 01 is not related to the earlier Alpine concept, which used a mid-mounted 3.5 litre V6 engine and running gear from the Megane Trophy racer.
(It's possible, of course, that elements of this new RS 01 will feature in the final production Alpine car...)
Watch for more details to surface in the coming weeks.
