Nissan expands into solar energy systems
The Japanese brand is offering solar solutions in the UK.
Nissan is branching out into home power solutions.
The Japanese brand's UK arm is offering a new home energy product, Nissan Energy Solar, that combines roof-top solar panels with battery storage.
Nissan claims that the system can help reduce power consumption by as much as 66 per cent on the UK average home.
The system is one of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies that are looking at how vehicles are powered, how they are driven and how they interact with society.
This week Nissan Australia's chief, Stephen Lester, said that the brand's strategy for the future would revolve around electric vehicles, SUVs and Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies.
On top of this, the Japanese brand is bringing its next-generation Leaf electric small car down under in the next 12 months.
Nissan in the UK envisage that its Nissan Energy Solar system would be ideal for charging the Leaf electric car thanks to the battery that can store energy for night time use, and both products fit into the brand's future strategy.
There is no word on whether Nissan Australia would offer such a system, but the technology could prove a hit locally with Australian weather more conducive to solar energy.
