Rolls-Royce has revealed that its next ‘drophead’ convertible will be known as the Dawn, reviving a badge last seen in the early 1950s.
The name’s first appearance in the Rolls-Royce line came in 1949 with the Silver Dawn saloon, followed by an extremely limited run of just 28 Dawn dropheads between 1950 and 1954.
The bespoke Silver Dawn represented a landmark moment for the brand, entering as the first Rolls-Royce to be built to the tastes of each individual customer.
The company’s new Dawn was given a private unveiling in California today for its global network of 130 dealers, although it has yet to be revealed to the public.
