MINI has confirmed its new Paceman will hit Australia with a pair of petrol options: a 'base' Cooper and the sportier Cooper S.
Revealed in September, the Paceman will be offered overseas with petrol and diesel engines, but a focus on the coupe's sporting image will see local options limited to petrol options only.
The engines available to Australian buyers will be familiar to fans, the Cooper powered by a 90kW/160Nm 1.6 litre mill, and the Cooper S getting a more powerful 135kW heart.
MINI promises a 10.4 second sprint to 100km/h in the Cooper, while the S model lists a 0-100km/h time of 7.5 seconds.
In Cooper form, the Paceman will offer combined fuel consumption figures of 6.5 l/100km, while the Cooper S lists a very close 6.6 l/100km.
A John Cooper Works version is also expected, and we can likely expect the same 160kW/280Nm engine that drives the JCW-enhanced Countryman.
