Mercedes-Benz has pulled (most of) the wraps from its SLS AMG Roadster this week, ahead of its world debut at September's Frankfurt Motor Show.
The new images and details follow months of spy photos and speculation on the topless version of Mercedes' retro-styled SLS AMG supercar.
The Roadster was also revealed briefly in a short TV spot last year titled 'Welcome', developed as part of the company's Superbowl advertising campaign.
Unlike the iconic gullwing design of the SLS AMG hardtop, the Roadster gets conventional doors and an electric folding fabric roof.
Thicker side skirts have been added to the Roadster, providing extra rigidity and support in the absence of the hardtop roof, along with additional support at the window frame and in the transmission tunnel.
With the roof gone, all of this increased support has added just 2.2kg to the Roadster's weight compared to the coupe.
Full specifications have yet to be revealed, but Mercedes has confirmed a 420kW output for the Roadster - meaning power is likely provided by the same 6.2 litre V8 engine driving the Coupe, rather than the newer 5.5 litre V8.
Development of the Roadster is nearing completion, with final testing underway now. Watch for our coverage of the Roadster's unveiling in September.
