McLaren 720S leaked again ahead of Geneva
New image of 650S successor surfaces online
The upcoming McLaren 720S has been leaked again ahead of its official reveal at this year's Geneva motor show.
A single image has surfaced online, posted (and since deleted) by Bloomberg, supposedly confirming the 720S name and giving a clearer look at the new supercar's proportions before its full reveal at the Geneva event next week.
The new Super Series blends numerous styling elements from other McLaren models, including the P1 hypercar and the Sports Series variants, with its wider and flatter aesthetic, along with its thin LED tail-lights.
Like other McLaren models before it, the 720S features 'butterfly doors', which appear to be hinged at the roof and the front quarter.
A large glasshouse extends from the roof to the rear, suggesting there's a space for luggage behind the seats like the 570GT, or it could display part of the V8 engine, or both.
Inside, the image gives a glimpse of what to expect from the 720S's new interior, which continues with an upright portrait-style infotainment system and minimalist approach to dials and buttons.
Considering the 720S name, expect its all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to produce 720hp, or 537kW.
A fortnight ago McLaren teased the upcoming supercar and its engine, confirming the displacement while also saying the new Super Series model will be capable of accelerating from 0-200km/h in 7.8 seconds - faster than many normal cars can sprint from 0-100km/h.
The British supercar firm is yet to detail other performance details, though it's safe to assume the new car will be able to match the current 675LT's 2.9-second 0-100km/h time.
More details will come when the new McLaren is revealed in Geneva, so stay tuned to CarAdvice for our coverage.
