2021 Targa Tasmania TV show airs this weekend

All of the action and beauty from the popular tarmac-based Targa Tasmania rally will be broadcast this weekend on Channel Nine.

It's a celebrated event in Australia, and the Targa Tasmania road rally never disappoints, with plenty of action, stunning roads, and an abundance of horsepower on show.

Finally, a wider audience gets to relive the event with Targa Tasmania highlights airing this weekend on Channel Nine, owner of this masthead.

The event – which took place back in April 2021 over five days – was first staged in 1992, with its route beginning in George Town on the Tamar River before winding through Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and Queenstown and finishing up in Hobart.

Piloting a 2016 Dodge Viper, Eddie Maguire and Zak Brakey took out the win in 2021, however the event was overshadowed by the tragic loss of three competitors. Due to the incidents, sections of the course were downgraded as participants returned to Hobart.

Channel Nine will televise highlights from the 2021 Targa Tasmania from 1pm Saturday.
