The last example of the Lexus IS F, a bold challenge to established heroes like the M3 and C 63 AMG, has rolled off the line at the company’s plant in Tahara, japan.
Announced in 2006, revealed in 2007 and launched here in late 2008, the IS F has proven a worthy introduction for the Lexus F range.
TMR first drove the IS F in early 2009, Tim O’Brien describing the car as “seriously quick, matched to an eight-speed auto with high-performance intent”.
“If Lexus sticks to the mission on this – please do, Lexus - we will have a truly sensational sporting sedan one or two models distant,” Tim wrote.
The years since have seen the 311kW hero sedan given a handful of updates, but with a new IS sedan on the scene - and a new M3 on the job - the time has come for the ageing IS F to put its feet up.
The IS F remains the only full-bottle F car to enter production - limited-edition LFA supercar aside - with dreams of larger GS F and LS F models yet to be fulfilled.
