Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Super Trofeo confirmed
A hardcore racing version of the new Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 has been confirmed by the Italian supercar maker.
Speaking at a pre-Geneva motor show event in Italy, Lamborghini R&D chief Murizio Reggiani said a Super Trofeo variant of the 448kW/560Nm 5.2-litre V10-powered all-wheel-drive Huracan was already under development.
"Yes, there will be one," Regianni said.
"They're working already on it."
Designed to compete in the European-based one-make racing series dubbed the world's fastest, a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo would follow in the footsteps of its Gallardo predecessor the LP560-4 Super Trofeo (pictured below).
Based on the 412kW/540Nm 2009-model-year Gallardo LP560-4, the Super Trofeo version had 7kW more power, was 110kg lighter and featured 18-inch light alloy wheels, competition Pirelli tyres, race brakes, a roll cage, polycarbonate windows and windscreens and several carbonfibre items including a fixed rear wing.
At the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, Lamborghini revealed the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. A street car aimed at bringing the excitement of motor racing to the road, the limited edition model was restricted to 150 units, was powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine as the race car and carried over much of its aggressive aero treatments.
Due to arrive locally in August or September priced from $428,000, the all-new Lamborghini Huracan makes its world premiere at tomorrow's 2014 Geneva motor show.
