Kia’s big people mover gets a facelift
Australia’s best-selling people-mover just got better.
Kia has updated Australia’s best-selling people mover, bringing a raft of tweaks to the eight-seat Carnival.
Unveiled at the New York motor show, where the car is sold as the Sedona, the new model features updated looks along with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and upgraded infotainment system.
New head and taillights join reprofiled front and rear bumpers and a choice of fresh 17, 18 and 19-inch wheels.
Front seat passengers benefit from the addition of a wireless charging pad, back-row occupants now have access to a USB point and middle-row occupants get a new button to access power sliding doors on premium models.
A central overhead display screen has been replaced by twin 10.1-inch monitors on the back of front seats, and Kia seas revised software with smartphone mirroring allows passengers to use smartphones to play favourite videos on the display screens.
A new eight-speaker Harmon Karmon premium stereo joins a driver attention warning system that builds on an already-strong suite of safety features including autonomous emergency braking.
Kia says a new eight-speed automatic transmission improved fuel economy over its outgoing six-speed unit, and that the car’s 3.3-litre, 206kW and 336Nm V6 remains unchanged.
The new Carnival is expected to arrive in Australia in coming months.
