Jaguar, is this your new F-Type?

This image, purported to have "popped up" in the email inbox of photographer Chris Doane, could be our first look at the hotly anticipated roadster.

If the photo here is the real thing, it confirms that the C-X16 coupe concept, the F-Type's inspiration, has made the leap into production with only the barest of styling changes. Oh, and without a roof.

The F-Type will make its first official appearance at next week's Paris Motor Show, but, thanks to this image (if it is indeed real), there is now little left to know about the new cat.

Already confirmed for the topless tourer are two high-performance engines, one an unspecified supercharged 5.0 litre V8, the other a 280kW supercharged 3.0 litre V6.

A recent video series has also offered plenty of hype-building quotes, with Jag design boss Ian Callum commenting that the F-Type team were given licence to be "as fearless as we want."

He describes the car as "one of the most significant sports cars of this century, of this decade."
