Cupra Leon, Formentor, Ateca prices rise again in Australia
Volkswagen-owned Spanish car-maker Cupra has increased pricing across its petrol and hybrid model range by up to $2000 – as new features are added.
Cupra Australia has increased prices across its petrol and hybrid model range – the Cupra Leon, Formentor and Ateca – alongside new standard features for a model-year update.
All models in the Leon hatch, Formentor SUV and Ateca SUV ranges are $1200 to $2000 more expensive for Model Year 2024 builds, orders for which open "shortly" ahead of deliveries due in late September 2023.
The Model Year 2024 (MY24) stock will be available alongside MY23 examples currently in stock or en route to Australia, at the previous, lower prices – but without Cupra's new features.
The new prices are $1200 to $2000 higher than before – following changes to prices earlier this year that saw some prices cut by $500 to $1500, but others rise by $760 to $2000.
It is the third change to pricing since Cupra – a subsidiary of Volkswagen – launched in Australia 11 months ago.
Now standard across the Cupra range for 2024 is DAB+ digital radio, while all Formentor SUVs are now fitted with a hands-free power tailgate (previously exclusive to the VZx).
The top-of-the-range Formentor VZx can now be optioned with an Akrapovic titanium sports exhaust for $6300. The option was previously exclusive to the Ateca VZx, priced from $5950 for MY23, or $6300 for MY24.
There have been a number of changes to option packs – including the addition of a nine-speaker Beats premium stereo to the Leon VZe plug-in hybrid's Leather Package, now renamed Leather and Sound Package.
The Beats sound system was previously exclusive to petrol-only V, VZ and VZx variants in the Leon range.
Prices and features for the Cupra Born electric car are unchanged, at $59,990 plus on-road costs for a single model grade available with Interior and Performance option packages.
