Audi TT: auto option shift for three new models
Audi's 'S tronic' automatic transmission has given rise to three additional Audi TT models.
The dual-clutch gearbox is now available in the TT Coupe 1.8 TFSI, TT Roadster 1.8 TFSI and TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro.
With the seven-speed S tronic transmission on board, the 118kW/250Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged TT Coupe matches the manual transmission's 0-100km/h time of 7.2 seconds (7.4sec for the Roadster) while reducing fuel consumption from 6.7 litres per 100km to 6.4L/100km.
Teaming the TT Coupe's 125kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine to the six-speed S tronic results in a manual-matching 0-100km/h sprint time of 7.5 seconds but a higher combined cycle fuel consumption: 5.5L/100km versus 5.3L/100km for the old-style cog-swapper.
All three new S tronic models come standard with Bluetooth, cruise control, Valetta leather front sports seats, multifunction sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
The S tronic transmission comes at a $3500 premium over the manual for both the TT Coupe 1.8 TFSI and TT Coupe 2.0 TDI quattro while the TT Roadster 1.8 TFSI comes in $9200 cheaper than its 2.0 TFSI quattro S tronic big brother.
