2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GSR price announced for Australia

The sports-focused ‘GSR’ badge spreads to Mitsubishi's new plug-in hybrid, due in showrooms this month.

Mitsubishi Australia’s top-selling vehicle has a new flagship, with the Japanese car maker confirming the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV GSR is due in local showrooms this month.

The GSR will offer the highest equipment level in the range – and at $73,790 before on-road costs, the highest price – positioned above the Outlander PHEV Exceed Tourer at the top of the line-up.

In Mitsubishi showrooms the Outlander joins the Triton ute, Pajero Sport large SUV and ASX small SUV in offering a GSR model.

Based on the Exceed Tourer, the 2024 Outlander GSR adds a dark exterior treatment with black 20-inch alloy wheels, black ‘Outlander’ bonnet lettering, and GSR tailgate badging.

The front and rear skid plates, grille, window surrounds, roof rails, and mirror caps are also finished in black.

Unique to the GSR is the option of a two-tone Red Diamond and Black Mica paint (pictured) at no additional cost.

Inside the Outlander GSR are black leather-trimmed seats, and black-finished door trims, dashboard and instrument panel, all with contrasting silver stitching.

The Mi-Pilot system – included on Outlander PHEV Exceed and Exceed Tourer models – is also standard on the Outlander PHEV GSR, combining adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist and traffic jam assist.

There are no mechanical changes for the GSR which will offer the existing powertrain found in existing Outlander PHEVs.

The GSR uses the same 135kW/245Nm 2.4-litre petrol engine and dual electric motors as the rest of the Outlander PHEV range, for all-wheel drive, claimed combined outputs of 185kW/420Nm, and a 20kWh battery offering up to 84km of electric-only driving range.

As well as being the brand’s most popular showroom model, the Outlander was Australia's second-best-selling mid-size SUV in the 'sub-$60,000' category in 2023, beaten only by the Toyota RAV4.

The current-generation Outlander, on sale in Australia since 2021, has received multiple price rises over the past two years, including for the latest 2024 update.
