  • Four models, with up to 362km of claimed driving range
  • Priced from $59,990 before on-road costs for ABN buyers

Chinese car maker LDV has launched a new rival for the top-selling Toyota HiAce, the LDV Deliver 7 – arriving first in electric 'eDeliver 7' guise, priced from $59,990 plus on-road costs for ABN buyers.

Four variants of the eDeliver 7 will be available – with two battery sizes, two wheelbase lengths and two roof heights.

A petrol or diesel-powered version is due at a later date – known simply as the Deliver 7, and expected to eventually succeed the ageing G10 – however arrival timing and prices are yet to be confirmed by LDV.

The eDeliver 7 is the second electric van in the HiAce size category in Australia – known as mid-size vans – after the Mercedes-Benz eVito, but months ahead of the electric Peugeot e-Expert and Ford E-Transit Custom, and the VW ID. Buzz Cargo.

It is the same price as the Peugeot e-Partner electric van – and cheaper than the Renault Kangoo E-Tech – in the category below.

All models are powered by a 150kW/330Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, matched with a 77kWh or 88kWh battery pack, depending on the model.

The top speed is 120km/h in Normal and Power modes – or just 90km/h in Eco mode.

Claimed driving ranges according to European WLTP lab-test standards are 318km for the 77kWh SWB Low Roof, 310km for the 77kWh LWB Low Roof, 362km for the 88kWh LWB Low Roof, and 328km for the 88kWh LWB High Roof.

The 77kWh models can charge at up to 78kW DC, increasing to 90kW for the 88kWh versions, though all quote a 43-minute 20 to 80 per cent fast-charge time.

Quoted 5 to 100 per cent charge times on an 11kW three-phase AC plug are eight hours for the smaller battery, or 9.3 hours for the larger pack.
